Tokyo International School Group

The Brief

Tokyo International School Group asked us to create a dedicated website for its Kindergarten (KG) program — the group’s most important entry point for international families. While the existing After School site contained KG information, it wasn’t structured to support parents looking specifically for early learning options across different kindergaten campus locations.

Our goal was clear: build a bilingual website focused on the six existing KG campuses and one new location, present program details with clarity, and keep the transition smooth for users familiar with the current site. At the same time, the new site needed a refreshed visual environment, improved user experience, and a structure that the TISG team could easily update through WordPress.

Our Audience

The site is designed for families seeking an international early learning environment in Tokyo — both expat households and Japanese parents looking for a globally minded kindergarten.

These audiences share the same need: clear, accessible information about curriculum, locations, admissions, and what makes each school unique. The new website delivers that clarity in a simple, parent-friendly structure.

The Process

We began with discovery by reviewing the shared information, clarifying requirements, and confirming that all kindergarten content would be fully separated from the existing After School site. From there, we created a visual sitemap that preserved the familiar structure while improving the way users move between campuses and program details.

Next, we produced ten wireframes and ten design variations across mobile, tablet, and desktop. Each major page, from the homepage to the school detail pages, was shaped around real parent behavior: scanning quickly, comparing locations, and moving smoothly toward enrollment or inquiries.

Once the designs were approved, development began on a clean WordPress setup with bilingual page structures, content migration, and dynamic sections for posts, news, and recruitment. Throughout this phase, we worked closely with the TISG team to format content, remove kindergarten material from the After School site, and ensure that every detail functioned correctly across languages and devices.

Booking Widget

We created an always-on booking widget in the footer which can be either docked or left deployed as you like. It allows for one-click access anywhere in the website, on desktop, tablet, or smartphone, to the room and restaurant booking functions, in addition to Club InterContinental content.

The smartphone experience is much the same, though we elected to use the entire screen for the booking forms. Tabs make it easy to switch between Room and Table reservations. Phone inquiries are merely a tap away.

In the end we were able to create an exceptionally well-optimized responsive design that looks and works great pretty much everywhere. Controls are easily accessible, pages load quickly, and global navigation elements are docked neatly out of the way when scrolling down in read mode. And of course it’s fully multilingual.

The Result

The final website delivers a focused, bilingual experience that helps parents understand the KG program and explore each campus with confidence. The structure is clean, the design reflects TISG’s character, and updates can now be managed directly by the school’s team.

Program details, school introductions, and access information are easier to find and compare. Dynamic news, events, and blog posts keep the site active, while streamlined navigation supports families who may be viewing on a phone during a busy day.

Most importantly, TISG now has a standalone KG platform that represents the program clearly — and supports families as they make one of their most important early education decisions.
